The former CIO at the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies (DCDT) Luyanda Ndlovu has been seconded to the Universal Service and Access Agency of SA (USAASA) as the acting chief executive officer.
The USAASA, a key agency of the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies (DCDT) was established to advance universal connectivity through partnerships between the government and private sector. As the agency finalises the appointment of a permanent CEO, Luyanda Ndlovu has temporarily stepped into the role.
According to the USAASA, the appointment process is expected to conclude within approximately three months. Luyanda’s secondment will end once the new CEO is appointed. He began his acting role earlier this month.
Luyanda is a seasoned IT executive with more than 19 years in the IT and information management field and has led digital transformation in the health, public service and administration sectors.
Before his current role at USAASA, Ndlovu served in various capacities at the DCDT, including a seven-year tenure as CIO and a stint as acting deputy director-general: administrators.
His career in IT began at Gelukspan Hospital within the Department of Health, where he worked as an information officer. He later served as deputy director of information, IT and records management at St Rita's Hospital under the Department of Health and Social Development.
He holds a master of technology degree in business information systems from the Tshwane University of Technology and an MBA from Henley Business School. Luyanda is currently completing a PhD in information systems at the University of Cape Town.
