Kaelo information technology executive Varun Rao has been nominated for the 2026 CIO Awards.
Varun Rao has been nominated for the 2026 CIO Awards for his role as Kaelo information technology executive.
Varun joined Kaelo in 2023. He previously served as head of technology at the company, as well as systems manager at HWSETA.
He is among the nominees competing to take home one (or more) of the awards up for grabs at the annual “Oscars of IT” this year, including the CIO of the Year title.
He began his career as a system administrator at Numerator Technologies. Varun holds a master of business administration and a postgraduate diploma in general management from GIBS, as well as a BEng in computer engineering from Karunya University.
Following the success of the fifth annual CIO Awards in 2025, CIO South Africa continues to shine a spotlight on the finest in IT and their achievements. On 25 November, the 2026 nominees will be celebrated during a gala ceremony at The Inanda Club in Sandton
