Altron HealthTech appoints Verushca Hunter as new CTO


The company believes that Verushca’s extensive experience and leadership will drive Altron’s HealthTech transformation to new heights.

Altron HealthTech has appointed Verushca Hunter as chief technology officer. The company’s offering comprises MedeMass, MediSwitch and MedeServe, and it boasts over 30 years of experience providing practice management and electronic claims switching technology to the healthcare industry.

Verushca brings more than 25 years’ experience in leading and implementing digital and technology solutions across various industries to Altron HealthTech.

She is passionate about creating digital and technology strategies and programmes that transform business models and build high-performing teams and businesses, and is an expert in helping organisations extract maximum value from digital and technology investments.

In her career, she has been responsible for budgets in excess of R600 million and creating high-performing teams that are able to operate effectively in an ever-changing business environment.

Verushca began her career in the management consulting space as a senior manager, delivering large technology implementation projects to multiple clients, and providing technology advisory services to C-suite executives across multiple industries. She later joined BI Avenue as a business manager, and also worked for Transnet Rail Engineering and EY as a senior manager.

She spent close to a decade with Absa, her last role being as head of digital technology and innovation, before joining Altron HealthTech.

Verushca holds a BCom in business management from Unisa and a master’s in corporate strategy from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS). Verushca also participated in Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s AI: implication for business strategy programme and GIBS’s digital transformation: a practical strategy programme.
