CIO South Africa’s Smarter IT Summit will explore transformative tech trends

post-title

CIO South Africa returns to 39 Melrose Boulevard to kick off 2025 with another insightful gathering of IT leaders. This time, the focus is on how CIOs are keeping pace with evolving technology trends and strategically leveraging them to drive innovation within their organisations.

Last year, the CIO South Africa community successfully hosted the country’s most formidable IT minds, who packed 39 Melrose Boulevard in trendy Melrose Arch for an insightful and informative discussion on cybersecurity. This year, on 18 February, the conversation shifts to transformative tech trends under the theme, ‘Smarter IT’.

From AI and machine learning to cloud computing and hyperautomation – we’ll be looking at all the factors that are reshaping IT, enhancing agility, streamlining operations and unlocking new growth opportunities.

Setting the stage for the evening, Bronwyn Williams, futurist, trend analyst, and partner at Flux Trends, will deliver the keynote address. She will delve into investment and development opportunities beyond the hype cycle, focusing on in-motion drivers of change.

The keynote address will be followed by a high energy panel discussion themed ‘Leveraging AI for efficiency and innovation’, featuring 2023 CIO of the Year and Standard Bank Group CIO Jörg Fischer, Telesure Investment Holdings (TIH) CIO Justin Freeman, RMB chief data and analytics officer Prashant Rijhumal, and Nedbank portfolio executive Mmule Sapula.

After a few drinks, canapés, networking and – most importantly – photo opportunities at the CIO South Africa’s famous banner wall, the energy will ramp up even more for an interactive session – the Smarter IT playbook session. Attendees will then unpack the key takeaways from the evening, as well as discussing actionable strategies.

No CIO South Africa event is complete without insightful reflections to wrap up the evening. As guests enjoy drinks and conversation, they’ll take in contrasting views of Johannesburg’s bustling CBD and the lush treescapes of Rosebank, Dunkeld and Illovo.
