From Alberton to Manchester: Jan Marais joins Connex One as new CIO

Jan is making a quick impression abroad, having been promoted just three months after joining his new company.

Connex One, a UK-based multi-award winning customer engagement platform that enables next-gen communication for businesses worldwide, has appointed Jan Marais as its new CIO: customer division global.

Prior to joining Connex One, Jan was the chief information officer for retail at Old Mutual Insure, and head of innovations and efficiencies at Old Mutual iWYZE before that. Jan initially joined Connex One in January 2024 as director of account management, but was promoted to CIO: customer division global just three months later.

Jan brings more than 23 years of international software development, IT digital transformation and innovation strategy experience in financial services, insurance and telecommunications to Connex One. His key areas of expertise include IT strategy and management, digital transformation, software development, cloud migration, and business planning and analysis.

Jan completed an internet programming specialist diploma from online technology skills provider Torque IT. He also holds a tech talent global visa which enables him to work in the UK’s digital technology sector.
