Gift Zowa has officially been appointed as the CEO of Broadband Infraco, following his acting role since November last year. He succeeds Andrew Matseke and will serve a five-year term.
According to Broadband Infraco, Gift Zowa’s extensive expertise in telecommunications, ICT, strategic management, and business leadership position him to lead the organisation to new heights. The state-owned wholesale infrastructure provider offers long-distance national and international connectivity to licensed private sector partners, licence-exempt national projects, and underserved areas.
Gift is a seasoned executive with experience in telecommunications, IT, strategic management and business management, with a BSc (Hons) degree in electrical and electronic engineering and an MBA from the University of Pretoria.
Prior to becoming acting CEO, he was CTO at Broadband Infraco for 11 years, having begun his career at Siemens before becoming head of telecommunications at state-owned Sentech.
At Sentech, Gift was responsible for designing and running the company’s MyWireless data communication product. He also worked as the head of mobile broadband for Africa and the Middle East for Nokia Networks, formerly Nokia Siemens Networks.
Gift is also a member of the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers, the Institute of Electrical Engineers in the UK, and is an Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) registered professional engineer.
