MTN appoints David Behr as new chief executive for its ICT centre of excellence


David will lead the ICT business across all MTN markets, helping to enable and transform the group’s enterprise customers’ businesses.

MTN, a South African multinational corporation and mobile telecommunications provider, has appointed seasoned IT executive David Behr as chief executive for its ICT centre of excellence, effective 1 November 2023. In addition to leading the MTN’s ICT business across the group’s markets, David will be responsible for and specifically focused on cloud, cybersecurity, modern workplace, and AI.

David spent more than a decade with Liquid Intelligent Technologies before joining MTN. He held several senior roles, including executive director and group director for special operations for Liquid’s Zimbabwe operations, group chief product officer and group chief digital officer for Liquid in London, and recently as CEO for Liquid cloud and cybersecurity.

In the mid- to late-1990s, David founded Liquid Home Zimbabwe, which is the country’s leading internet service provider (ISP).

David holds a master’s degree in electrical and electronic engineering (with) computer science from the University of Bristol, a certificate in computer science and communications from Télécom Paris, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
