On 10 April, CIO South Africa returns to Cape Town to reconnect with the city’s top IT leaders for an engaging evening themed Magic Mechanics – a deep dive into the complex yet rewarding journey of modernising legacy systems.
CIO South Africa had a successful first visit to Cape Town and exciting discussion on how to build future-fit AI teams that saw 80 sought-after CIOs pack 180 Lounger in Cape Town’s CBD. This time, the fastest-growing IT community in the country will continue that momentum, to discuss legacy systems. How CIOs, as ‘magic mechanics’, are turning complex challenges into seamless transitions that unlock new opportunities while maintaining operational stability.
The rooftop terrace –180 Lounger – with its unparalleled views of the city skyline, is the perfect setting for this exclusive gathering. Guests can expect refreshments, gourmet canapés, and of course, powerful conversations.
The evening will begin with an interactive session: Cracking the Legacy Code: Collaborative Strategies for legacy modernisation. Followed by a welcome note and interactive session debrief delivered by CIO South Africa community manager Nomahlubi Sonjica. Nomahlubi will be accompanied by Huawei regional director Shaun van Zyl chief executive: OKS iOCO Clydie Cronje during the debrief.
And then, the spotlight turns to Poppy Tshabalala, the evening’s keynote speaker. A seasoned ICT executive with a remarkable track record across government, telecommunications, and higher education, Poppy is not only a respected business strategist but also a trailblazer in digital transformation, consulting, and sales.
From the power keynote address, attendees will then dive into a very insightful panel discussion featuring retail CIOs Chris Shortt, CTO at Shoprite and Shalendra Singh, Hungry Lion’s head of IT, seasoned energy and change catalyst Aveena Mothilall, former CIO at Engen, and Entelect CCO Daniel Manyemwe. The IT leaders will unpack how CIOs are turning legacy systems into catalysts for change as a session themed From Burden to Breakthrough.
The community will then hear from one of its valued supporters and Cassava Technologies’ newly-minted CEO Ziaad Suleman, who will then lead guests to the rooftop of 180 Lounger for drinks, networking, and panoramic views to close out the night.
