Shashika John is Grindrod’s new CIO

As the company continues to grow and innovate, Grindrod believes that Shashika’s expertise in customer solutions, enterprise programme management and process improvement will be invaluable.

Grindrod, a provider of freight logistics and shipping services, has appointed Shashika John as its new chief information officer, effective July 2024. The company's portfolio of freight services comprises terminals, ports, logistics, sea freight logistics, integrated logistics, ships agency, clearing and forwarding, and marine fuel supply.

Shashika is a seasoned business leader with more than 22 years of experience in IT and consulting. Prior to joining Grindrod, she was group CIO at RTT Logistics, leading IT innovation and transformative solutions. Before that, she was the IT customer solutions and transformational lead at DHL. Additionally, Shashika has experience as a lecturer, teaching first- and second-year IT students at private colleges.

She has a proven track record of driving profitable growth through sound business management and developing high-performance team culture across multiple locations. Shashika also has extensive experience in managing commercial contracts, change management, improving safety, and leading cultural and organisational improvements.

Shashika holds a BCom (Hons) in informatics from the University of South Africa and is completing her MBA with Edinburgh Business School.
