Stephan Wessels is Simply’s new CTO

Simply is nimble by nature and driven by financial inclusivity, which drew Stephan to the insurer.

Simply Financial Services, a life, disability and funeral insurance company, which provides both group and individual cover, has appointed Stephan Wessels as its new CTO. He transitions from the senior software sales environment to the insurance industry as a technology lead.

Simply is an online first insurer and Stephan, as CTO, will be responsible for overseeing all things technology-related.

Core to Simply’s business model is offering business owners and their employees affordable risk benefits, taking special account of what the SMMEs and their employees can afford. Simply is driven by innovation and plans on adding further benefits to the current offering, including savings and simple health insurance.

Part of Stephan’s five-year plan is to leverage the speed at which Simply has taken innovation to market, further enhance its unique cloud-first platform and prepare to serve customers across multiple geographies.

Prior to joining Simply, Stephan was the head of customer advisory at SAS South Africa. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and computer science from the University of the Free State, a BSc (with honours) in IT project management from the University of Johannesburg and completed his MBA at Henley Business School.
