Ugan joined Rainbow Chicken for the exciting opportunity to apply his IT expertise in a new industry. He sees the poultry sector as undergoing significant transformation and is eager to contribute to its evolution.
Rainbow Chicken has appointed Ugan Reddy as its new head of IT, effective 1 October 2024. “The poultry sector is undergoing significant change, and I’m eager to contribute to its digital transformation,” says Ugan. “My plans involve modernising IT infrastructure, embracing automation, and implementing data-driven solutions to improve productivity at Rainbow.”
A seasoned IT leader, Ugan brings over two decades of diverse experience across multiple sectors, including manufacturing, credit, wholesale, logistics and retail, having worked in South Africa, East Africa, the UK, Romania and Türkiye. His career has been defined by his ability to align IT strategies with business objectives to enhance profitability and reduce enterprise risk.
Reddy’s expertise spans the management of large-scale projects, including cloud transitions, virtualisation and advanced infrastructure solutions. His early career saw him start at Microsoft in the early 2000s, followed by a role at Eskom as a business systems analyst and developer. He then transitioned into consulting with PwC before becoming an enterprise solutions architect at Experian and later heading up IT at Steinhoff International.
Before joining Rainbow Chicken, Ugan spent a decade as the group IT manager at Metair Investments, a multinational company specialising in energy storage and automotive components.
Ugan holds a BCom in computer systems networking and telecommunications from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and an MBA with a focus on IT change management from Mancosa. He is also a Certified Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) professional.
