As BDO’s new chief information and digital officer, Khaya leverages his expertise in digital and technology strategy, delivery management, and overseeing complex business initiatives.
BDO, a consulting firm that offers business advisory, audit, tax and numerous business outsourcing services, has named Khaya Mbanga as its new chief information and digital officer.
Khaya is a highly experienced technology professional, with a strong background in a broad spectrum of digital and technology strategy, delivery management and complex business initiatives. He has a passion for team development and leveraging emerging technologies to enhance business operations.
Khaya’s career began in 2001 as an information analyst at Transnet (formerly Spoornet). He later gained experience in IT consulting and financial services before moving into the professional services industry, where he held leadership roles at Accenture and EY as an associate director.
At Servest, Khaya served as group director for digital transformation and technology, where he was responsible for aligning IT objectives and programmes with enterprise goals and strategies to ensure cohesive and effective operations across the organisation.
He joined BDO South Africa in 2022 as partner: digital advisory, where he established new technology consulting and advisory capabilities within the advisory service line, focusing on cutting-edge digital and disruptive technologies, before being appointed chief information and digital officer this year.
Khaya holds a BSc in computer science from the University of Port Elizabeth.
