Debbie Vermaak has been appointed CIO at ABF Sugar. In this role, she will lead the development and execution of the company’s IT strategy.
ABF Sugar has appointed Debbie Vermaak as CIO and she will be responsible for driving digital transformation initiatives and aligning technology priorities with business objectives.
Debbie joins ABF Sugar from De Beers Group, where she most recently served as CIO. She spent more than a decade at De Beers, progressing from Global IM Manager to CIO, and was instrumental in shaping the organisation’s global IT landscape.
Her career spans over three decades in senior technology and leadership positions. Prior to her tenure at De Beers, Debbie held roles at leading organisations like Anglo American, IBM and South African Breweries. Here, she gained broad industry exposure across mining, technology services and consumer goods.
In addition to her professional roles, Debbie has consistently invested in her own development. She has participated in a wide range of technical, leadership and project management initiatives, including leadership programmes at IBM and Anglo American, as well as a Gartner executive programme.
