Barloworld’s former group CIO Tshifhiwa Ramuthaga writes her next chapter as an entrepreneur and puts her ‘explorer mindset’ to the test. She recently announced that she’ll be taking the helm at a newly established IT firm.

Tshifhiwa Ramuthaga, a business turnaround and digital transformation specialist, recently took to her LinkedIn page to announce the next phase in her IT journey as CEO at TGR Global Enterprises, an IT company that is revolutionising how businesses leverage technology, and empowering organisations by optimising IT functions and strengthening boards and excos in their IT governance responsibilities.

Prior to taking up the CEO position at TGR, Tshifhiwa was the group CIO at Barloworld, where she was responsible for the strategic oversight and development of a new IT/digital operating model for the Barloworld group. She joined Barloworld in 2017 as CIO and in 2019 was named the logistics giant’s chief digital officer (CDO), and later appointed to group CIO.

Tshifhiwa began her IT career in the government’s security cluster as CIO. She later had a stint in financial services with Standard Bank as business unit CIO: wealth and third-party payments, and later joined the Financial Services Board as CIO, before her entry into industrial processing, distribution, and services industry.

She holds a master’s degree in IT from the University of Pretoria and an MBA in management from the same institution.
