Phila Ndarana secures nomination for the 2024 CIO Awards

The Auditor General of South Africa’s CTO will compete for a trophy at the prestigious CIO Awards.

Phila Ndarana, CTO at the Auditor General of South Africa (AGSA) has been nominated for the 2024 CIO Awards. Prior to joining the Auditor General of South Africa, Phila was the chief digital officer (CDO) and exco member at Ubank.

Phila started his career at Woolworths in 1996 as an IT trainee manager. By the time he left in 2006, he was the systems manager for franchise, international Engen, and new stores. He then joined Sanlam as a business consultant manager and was later appointed as CIO at Sanlam Private Wealth.

He holds a BCom degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt accredited by Qualtec. Phila also participated in senior management development programmes at the Gordon Institute of Business Science, Sanlam and the University of Stellenbosch Business School. In addition, he obtained a postgraduate qualification in digital transformation strategy from the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business.

Phila is currently studying towards an MSc in strategic IT management through Arden University, UK.
