Rami Farah appointed CITO of Bayobab Africa effective January 2026

Bayobab Africa, the MTN Group company responsible for its digital infrastructure portfolio, has announced the appointment of Rami Farah as chief information and technology officer, effective 1 January 2026.

Rami Farah will be responsible for leading the development and execution of the IT and technology strategy for MTN’s digital infrastructure, which operates commercially as Bayobab Africa. His mandate includes strengthening technology capabilities across the business to support operational scalability, resilience and growth across the continent.

He brings more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications and technology sectors, with a background spanning large-scale operational delivery, technology modernisation and innovation. Prior to this appointment, Rami served as CTO at MTN South Africa and has held several senior leadership roles across the broader MTN Group ecosystem.

In his new role, Rami will report directly to Mazen Mroué, CEO of MTN Digital Infrastructure. Commenting on the appointment, Mazen says: “Rami’s appointment reinforces our commitment to building world-class technology capabilities that enable growth and resilience. His leadership and expertise will be pivotal in advancing our technology strategy and supporting our ambitions across Africa.”

Rami holds a master’s in telecommunications from Aristotle University in Greece, as well as a diploma in telecommunications management studies from Spain.
