RMB’s Christiaan du Preez nominated for the 2024 CIO Awards

Christiaan's nomination for the 2024 CIO Awards along with other nominees recognises his exceptional leadership and contributions to the field of information technology.

Christiaan du Preez, the chief digital and information officer (CDIO) at Rand Merchant Bank, has been nominated for the 2024 CIO Awards. He joined RMB in 2020 as the CIO for the financial services company’s banking division. As CDIO, Christiaan is responsible for all things technology related – from technology strategy formulation and execution to ensuring secure platforms. 

During his career, Christiaan worked as a quantitative developer for Nordea in the complex risk and options team, gaining international experience. After trying his hand at a fintech start-up focusing on supply chain finance solutions, he joined RMB in January 2020 as the CIO for the banking division where he gained experience in the corporate transactional and investment banking sides of the CIB business.

Christiaan's banking career has been marked by his work in global markets, where he started as a developer specialising in interest rate derivative models and eventually led global markets technology for Standard Bank.

He holds a bachelor's degree in electronic engineering from the University of Pretoria and has participated in a mathematical modelling of derivatives programme at Unisa, and various management courses at Standard Bank and RMB.
