Seasoned Standard Bank CIO Theo Skosana heads to Liberty to ensure its IT operations align with the business’s growth ambitions.
Liberty, a division of the Standard Bank Group, has appointed Theo Skosana as its new CIO. From 1 June 2025, he will focus on defining and executing the cluster’s technology and digital strategies, ensuring the company’s IT operations are aligned with its business growth ambitions.
“We are excited to welcome Theo to the Standard Bank insurance and asset management family,” said Yuresh Maharaj, CEO of the division.
Theo has been with Standard Bank for 19 years and has held various leadership roles across different business areas. His “strong technical expertise, combined with his strategic leadership, has been instrumental in driving large-scale digital transformation initiatives that have redefined client value propositions in the financial services sector”.
Prior to his appointment at Liberty, Theo was the CIO of transaction banking, as well as corporate and investment banking at Standard Bank, where he successfully led complex technology agendas that have resulted in significant business impact.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Pretoria, and his over 25 years of experience has made him a recognised thought leader in the IT space.
