TAU Mining has appointed Shaun Henderson as its new chief technology officer (CTO), marking his return to the mining sector where he initially established his IT career.
With more than 37 years of experience spanning industries such as mining, consulting engineering, and construction, Shaun Henderson brings a wealth of expertise to his new role as TAU Mining’s CTO.
Prior to joining TAU Mining, Shaun served as the head of IT at Hitachi Construction Machinery Africa. His career journey has also seen him hold senior IT leadership roles, including key positions at De Beers, Lonmin, Eurasian Resources Group, and Salungano Group, where he managed complex IT operations and large-scale project portfolios.
Shaun’s deep roots in the mining industry are evident from his early role as IT manager at De Beers in the early 2000s. There, he managed IT operations, supported infrastructure growth, and maintained vital relationships with vendors and stakeholders.
As a leader, Shaun embraces a situational leadership style, adapting to the needs of his team and the tasks at hand. These values not only guide Shaun’s leadership but also inspire his team to consistently deliver high-performance results. Shaun is also a champion of innovation and transformation, consistently identifying opportunities for digital enhancement and organisational efficiency.
His vision for TAU Mining’s technological future focuses on leveraging IT to drive operational efficiency, support TAU Mining’s diversification strategies, ensure financial stability, and facilitate growth and scalability.
Outside of his professional endeavours, Shaun is a dedicated family man who loves spending quality time with his loved ones. Despite the demanding nature of working in an IT environment, he always makes time for relaxation and a little bit of entertainment.
He stays active as a member of the ‘5am Club’ and values the time he spends exercising with his family. He also enjoys the simple pleasures of watching movies and spending peaceful evenings at home.
