Zamokuhle Mthethwa has been tapped to lead the IT strategy at the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS), effective February 2026.
In this role, Zamokuhle will be responsible for developing and executing NSFAS’s IT strategy, with a focus on modernising core systems, enhancing operational efficiency and delivering a digitally-enabled student experience.
Zamokuhle brings nearly two decades of IT experience, specialising in digital transformation and enterprise-wide technology initiatives. Prior to joining NSFAS, he served as an engineering lead at Nedbank. His professional career includes senior leadership positions at Shoprite, Discovery Bank and Absa, among other major organisations.
“My primary objective is to position NSFAS as a world-class, digitally empowered institution. I am committed to delivering an intuitive, seamless and dignified experience for students at every stage of the funding and service journey. I will drive a transformative agenda that strengthens operational excellence, modernises core capabilities and establishes NSFAS as a benchmark for digital service delivery in the public sector,” Zamokuhle said.
He holds a bachelor of science in physics and applied mathematics as well as an honours in physics.
