Aveena Mothilall has been appointed director of data and analytics at Associated British Foods’s Twinings.
Aveena Mothilall, winner of the 2024 Smart Data Award, joins Twinings from Engen, where she most recently served as head of data until early 2025. She then founded Change Catalyst, an organisation focused on building future-fit digital and data skills among young people.
She brings more than 20 years of experience across major African and multinational organisations, including Coca-Cola Beverages Africa, Sasol Energy and SAB, with a career spanning data strategy, digital transformation, advanced analytics and enterprise technology leadership.
At Twinings, Aveena will be responsible for establishing the data and analytics operating model, embedding data-driven decision-making across the business, and building the platforms, governance and culture required to drive measurable business value from data assets.
Her background includes leading large-scale transformation programmes, modernising data environments, and developing high-performing digital and analytics teams aligned to business outcomes.
Aveena holds a postgraduate qualification in business information systems and an honours in information technology from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
