The group CIO recently announced his exit from the broadcast media company, but held details about his next move close to his chest.

Brad Eliot, former Multichoice group CIO, recently announced his departure from one of Africa’s leading entertainment companies. “Today marks the end of an incredible five-year journey at Multichoice Group,” Brad wrote on LinkedIn. “Transitioning from financial services to the dynamic world of sports, media and entertainment has been nothing short of amazing.”

Brad also took the opportunity to express his gratitude for the opportunity he was given to lead Multichoice’s IT endeavours, the relationships, and the immeasurable impact the role has had in his IT journey. “Your support and collaboration have made this experience truly special,” he added.

Speaking exclusively to CIO South Africa, Brad said that he didn’t want to reveal too much about his next chapter, but it will definitely be an exciting one in the new year. For now, Brad is considering a few options on the table.

Brad, however, did reflect on some of the biggest lessons he learned around leadership and his time at Multichoice. “Ethical and highly transparent leadership is of utmost importance,” he said, “especially when an organisation is going through change or adapting to a shifting marketplace.

“Getting people to understand why they do things and not only what they do leads to greater alignment in terms of purpose and buying into a vision or strategy,” Brad added. “Being agile and adaptable is probably one of the most critical leadership traits in today's fast-paced and evolving world.”

Brad will take the time to reflect and relax and make a final decision on his next move as he enjoys his favourite hobby of mountain biking, and spending quality time with friends and family over the festive season.
