Sne Dlamini has stepped into the role of group chief information and digital officer at Sasol, bringing a 20-year track record of leading large-scale transformations to the organisation.

Sasol has appointed Sne Dlamini as group chief information and digital officer (GCIDO), effective 1 June 2026. With a 20-year track record of leading large-scale transformation while delivering measurable business outcomes, Sne brings the strategic clarity and depth of experience required to accelerate Sasol’s digital ambitions.

Sne’s career journey – spanning local, regional and global roles at Unilever and Danone and executive leadership at Discovery and AECI – demonstrates both the breadth and depth of multinational experience navigating complex environments.

Stepping into a company with a rich industrial heritage, Sne’s immediate approach is anchored in active listening and immersion. “Sasol possesses deep-rooted engineering, intellectual capital and operational expertise,” she says. “My goal is to understand the unique intersection of our businesses, people, assets and market dynamics. By engaging directly with frontline operators, functional leaders and executive stakeholders, I intend to map the current digital maturity and identify where technology can truly serve as a catalyst for Sasol’s strengthen, grow and transform ambition.”

In her initial months, Sne says she will build a comprehensive understanding of Sasol’s business, people, operations and technology landscape, with a near-term focus on momentum and partnership. “The initial impact will be enhancing delivery velocity on current commitments already in flight and establishing strong partnerships with business leaders by focusing on quick wins that directly optimise performance,” she explains. “This lays the credibility foundation required to co-create and execute a long-term, sustainable digital transformation roadmap.”

Operating in a heavy industrial, mining, energy and chemical environment presents unique challenges, and Sne is clear-eyed about the constraints this demands. Digital transformation in such an enterprise, she emphasises, requires a deliberate blend striking a balance between stabilising core systems and modernising pragmatically. “We must drive digital transformation without ever compromising operational stability or safety.”

Sne believes the role of technology leaders has expanded well beyond systems and infrastructure, they are now business architects who shape strategic outcomes. That conviction is matched by an equally strong commitment to the people who make transformation possible. “To get the best out of our teams, I am committed to fostering a culture of inclusivity, high performance and radical candour,” she says. “When highly skilled professionals operate in an environment where they are trusted to challenge the status quo and take calculated risks, innovation becomes a natural by-product.”

Beyond her executive achievements, Sne is an active contributor to industry dialogue, mentoring future leaders and advocating for inclusive leadership within the technology sector.
