Adcorp Group’s first female CTO will compete for a trophy at the awards.

Unathi Thosago is a versatile CTO who has worked in multiple industries, including financial services, pharmaceutical, SOE, agricultural, and insurance industries. However, her biggest career highlight was when she joined Adcorp Group, and was named as the group’s first-ever CTO.

Prior to joining Adcorp, Unathi was IT solutions development manager, Rand Mutual Assurance (RMA), and later head of project management office at RMA. In her role as solutions development manager, Unathi led the team that developed that funeral solution when RMA decided to diversify into the funeral cover space.

Away from work, Unathi is passionate about mentoring, especially young girls. As a result, she decided to take part in the Project Girls for Girls South Africa programme, a Harvard University initiative. Unathi played her part in this initiative by connecting with Athlone Girls High School while she was completing her MBA with GIBS. “It does take up a lot of time, but it is quite fulfilling to see some of the success stories that come out of it,” she says.

Unathi completed her bachelor’s degree in computer science at Rhodes University and holds an MBA from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS).
