Medscheme appoints Satish Antony as new chief analytics and strategy officer

An experienced actuary and non-executive director, Satish Antony will lead Medscheme Holdings’ data organisation and strategy development functions.

Satish has over 15 years’ experience in the financial services industries of Africa and India, during which he has honed a versatile set of skills. He is the former head of Sanlam’s Pan Africa motor insurance division, where he was in charge of expanding the portfolio across East and Southern Africa and building new partnerships in these regions. He also served on the boards of FBN GI (Nigeria) and Grand-Reinsurance (Zimbabwe) as Sanlam’s representative non-executive director.

Prior to joining Medscheme Holdings as an executive manager of actuarial in October 2023, Satish oversaw strategy development for the Sanlam Group, where he guided strategic reviews and translated these into actionable initiatives.

Satish has a BComm (honours) degree in actuarial science from Stellenbosch University and is a qualified actuary from the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFA UK). He also holds an executive MBA from the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business, which has helped him broaden his horizons beyond the actuarial field.

His responsibilities will include actuarial consulting, technical marketing and product development, with a focus on driving innovation, operational excellence and strategic growth across the group.

When he’s not helping the scheme provide sustainable healthcare solutions to leading medical aids in Southern Africa, he’s providing infrastructure to support childhood development in the region through Breadline Africa.
