Peermont’s Gona Rajoo nominated for the 2024 CIO Awards

The highly anticipated awards ceremony will take place on the evening of 12 November.

Gona Rajoo, CIO and group IT executive at Peermont Global has secured a nomination for the 2024 CIO Awards. As CIO at Peermont, Gona oversees major IT refreshes and projects, but also focuses on customer experience and mentorship.

Peermont Hotels, Casinos and Resorts is an award-winning hospitality and entertainment company that operates 11 properties located across South Africa and Botswana, notable hotels being Emperor’s Palace, located near OR Tambo International Airport, and The Grand Palm, in Botswana.The highly anticipated awards ceremony will take place on the evening of 12 November.

Gona is a highly experienced IT executive with more than 25 years’ experience in the hospitality industry. However, he began his working career as an educator, before transitioning into IT in the hospitality industry. Gona later became a technical consultant at Sibaya Casino and then later IT manager, then joined Sun International as technical manager. He spent more than a decade at Sun International, occupying senior roles such as GM: IT infrastructure solutions and executive – IT operations and infrastructure, before joining Peermont.

During his career, Gona played a pivotal role in the end-to-end IT opening of Time Square at Menlyn on Main, the largest casino in Tshwane. He was responsible for overseeing the infrastructure, cabling, networks, firewalls, systems, data centres and virtualisation layers.

Gona holds a BTech (cum laude) in business management from the Durban University of Technology. He has completed a business leadership programme: business administration and management with UCT’s Graduate School of Business. He also participated in the Gordon Institute of Business Science’s financial management: finance for non-financial managers programme, and the Digital Campus’s business, management, marketing, and related support services programme.
