Discovery Insure CIO joins other IT leaders nominated for the 2023 CIO awards.
Nominations for the 2023 CIO Awards are pouring in and Sne Dlamini, Discovery Insure CIO, has joined the race to compete for the prestigious honours. Sne is a highly experienced IT executive with more than 18 years of experience, 10 of which have been in senior leadership roles.
She joined Discovery Insure as deputy CIO in February 2021 and was promoted to CIO in October of the same year, and oversees a team of 150+ front-end and back-end developers, architects, tech leads, and production support analysts. Sne is also an exco member of Discovery Insure and Discovery CIO Forum.
Prior to joining Discovery, Sne was head of IT for Middle East, east, and southern Africa (MESSA) at Danone South Africa. Before joining Danone, she was the head of IT for Africa at Unilever.
She has also received several honours throughout her career, including Unilever Africa’s High Performing IT Team in 2016, Danone Southern Africa’s GM Award in 2018, and Discovery High Impact Leadership recognition in 2022.
Sne earned a BSc in information systems and computer science from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, as well as a BCom (Hons) in information systems from the same institution. She also has an MBA from Regenesys Business School.
The 2023 CIO Awards recognise individuals who have excelled in an IT capacity in their respective industries, built and led great teams, and effectively completed crucial initiatives in their organisations. The awards also highlight the world-class excellence that has come to be associated with South Africa's top IT executives.
