Dr Wynand Beukes has been nominated for the 2026 CIO Awards for his role as CDO at WeBuyCars.
Wynand is among the nominees competing to take home one (or more) of the nine awards up for grabs at the annual “Oscars of IT”, including the CIO of the Year title.
Wynand has been the chief digital officer at WeBuyCars since 2018. Before joining WeBuyCars, he held senior roles at organisations including Telkom and BCX, where he gained experience across enterprise technology, digital platforms and large scale IT operations.
In January 2026, Wynand was appointed deputy CEO at WeBuyCars.
He also holds a doctorate in information systems from the University of Pretoria.
Following the success of the fifth annual CIO Awards in 2025, CIO South Africa continues to shine a spotlight on the finest in IT and their achievements.
On 25 November, the 2026 nominees will be celebrated during a gala ceremony at The Inanda Club in Sandton.
