The Cape Town CIO Summit will look at how tech leaders are using technology not only to drive efficiency, but to shape organisations in more deliberate ways. That includes building more inclusive workplaces, supporting ESG goals and making technology decisions that align with broader business values.
The question facing today’s technology leaders is no longer only what technology can do, but what it should stand for. That question will sit at the heart of CIO South Africa’s Purpose-Driven Tech Summit, taking place in Cape Town at 180 Lounger on 15 April.
Set against the backdrop of the Mother City, the summit will bring together CIOs and senior technology leaders for an evening of insight, discussion and peer engagement. As AI, automation, intelligent platforms and data ecosystems continue to reshape organisations, technology leadership is becoming more closely tied to questions of trust, inclusion, sustainability and long-term impact.
The programme will include an interactive session built around a timely question: are CIOs shaping purpose through technology, or simply enabling it? The evening will also feature a keynote and audience discussion led by Jeniffer Ramnath, CDIO of Mastercard Foundation. Jeniffer is a highly accomplished technology strategist, boasting over two decades of expertise in IT strategy, business management, transformative change and execution, as well as business development and divestitures.
A key focal point of the evening will be the panel discussion, Architecting the Inclusive Enterprise: Technology’s role in fostering culture and engagement, featuring Mo Kola, CTO at TFG, and Sam Nkosi, group CIO at Santam. Mo brings experience from one of South Africa’s major retail groups, while Sam has more than 30 years of technology leadership experience and is currently leading Santam’s future-fit strategy, centred on data-driven decision-making and modern technologies such as AI and machine learning.
“We’re consolidating and building platforms across the entire organisation. There’s over 106 years of data in pockets everywhere; bringing that together will create insights even for new business models,” Sam explained in an exclusive interview.
Together, Mo and Sam will explore how technology can help shape culture, strengthen engagement, and create organisations where people feel included, empowered, and connected.
As always, the summit is designed to offer more than a formal content platform. With networking, drinks, canapés and the setting itself contributing to the atmosphere, the evening will also create space for a candid exchange among peers facing many of the same leadership questions.
At a time when technology decisions are becoming inseparable from questions of purpose, responsibility and long-term value, the summit promises a timely and worthwhile conversation.
