The Central University of Technology has announced the appointment of cybersecurity specialist Galeboe Mogotsi as its new CIO, effective 5 January 2026.

Galeboe Mogotsi joins the institution with close to two decades of experience across enterprise IT operations, information security and digital transformation. His appointment forms part of CUT’s implementation phase of its 2026 to 2030 strategic plan, with a specific focus on strengthening the resources and operations division in support of the university’s broader strategic turnaround.

Prior to joining CUT, Galeboe served as CISO at the University of the Witwatersrand, where he was responsible for institutional cybersecurity strategy, risk management and resilience. His career also includes senior leadership roles at Armscor, the Gauteng Partnership Fund and Sanral, where he led complex IT and governance initiatives in highly regulated environments.

A chartered CIO, Galeboe has maintained a strong focus on continuous professional development. He holds an MBA with a specialisation in management information systems, as well as a postgraduate diploma in IT management from Mancosa.

In addition to his executive responsibilities, Galeboe is an established figure in the cybersecurity community. He currently serves as vice chair of the board of the Cloud Security Alliance of South Africa, contributing to national and industry-level discussions on cloud security, risk and best practice.

CUT has indicated that his leadership will play a key role in advancing the institution’s digital and operational priorities over the next strategic cycle.
