SIU CIO Tumelo Zwane nominated for the 2025 CIO Awards

The Special Investigative Unit (SIU) CIO joins the list of nominees competing for the acclaimed CIO of the Year title.

Tumelo Zwane has been nominated for the 2025 CIO Awards for her work as the IT leader at the SIU.

Tumelo began her career as a network administrator at Lechabile IT Solutions, she then joined Telkom as a HP-UX system administrator and team leader and has since worked her way up to tech management roles at leading organisations like Sita, Sars, T-Systems and EOH.

She served as an IT service desk manager at Sita and service delivery manager at Sars and T-Systems. Before joining the SIU in 2018 she was a strategic account executive at EOH looking after key accounts like DOJ&CD and Sassa.

Her educational accomplishments include a national diploma in IT from the University of Johannesburg. She has completed various technical certifications on HP-UX, Solaris and IBM as a hardware infrastructure specialist.

Additionally, she completed a next generation network specialist programme at Telkom awarded by Rhodes University. She completed various certifications on ITIL v2,3&4 Cobit, ISO/IEC 20000. She has also completed a management advancement programme (MAP) at Henley Business School.

She is among the nominees competing to take home one (or more) of the nine awards up for grabs at the annual “Oscars of IT” this year, including the CIO of the Year title.

Following the success of the third annual CIO Awards in 2024, CIO South Africa continues to shine a spotlight on the finest in IT and their achievements. On 13 November, the 2025 nominees will be celebrated during a gala ceremony at The Inanda Club in Sandton.
